Completion of the lockdown refurbishment

After finishing our second phase of refurbishment we have just added the final touches to our rooms. Having bought the house just before the pandemic we have used this valuable time to lovingly refurbish this beautiful house. The colours palatte of the house is based on nature around the Cairngorm National Park, we have been mindful of using Eco friendly paint and washable walls to adhere to COVID policies.
The calming colours of the King en-suite room, Strathisla are taken from the heather blooming in the hills throughout September complementing the feel of this space.
We love the Victorian antique pink in our twin room, this colour has been inspired from the flowers in the original stained glass windows at the front of the house.
The different shades of blue found throughout the house have been drawn from the moody blue hues of the River Spey and the surrounding beautiful bright blues of the lochs found on a sunny days.
We spend the majority of the first lockdown working on the hall, it took quite a few weeks to strip the many layers of wallpaper off the walls and a delight to discover the original tradesmens signatures from last century still inked on the wall, a fascinating find in the history of Brooklynn.
Our beautiful handmade entrance hall curtains were made locally by Joanne an expert curtain maker and upholster who owns and runs the 3R's on Grantown High Street, she decorated these beautiful curtains with pom poms allowing for a Victorian but modern look.
Now lockdown is over we are looking forward to spending some time in local art galleries to add some paintings to our walls.
